Default katzuu's 2011 WRX DGM Hatch

Hey guys,

The name's Justin and I recently moved back home to Cupertino from being away the past 7 years in socal (Irvine) for school and work. Got a new job up here in Mountain View so hence the move back home and a search for a norcal subie forum haha. I'm hoping to find the same community as socalsubies.com here and looking forward to meets and sharing info/pics with you all. Don't be shy and throw me a deuce if you see me on the road!

I got my baby, named Val (short for Valentine), from Putnam Subaru in Burlingame delivered down to Irvine on 3/11/11. I haven't done too much modding except for the following:

-STI short-throw shifter
-AEM CAI
-SPT CBE
-Cobb Accessport Stage 1 + AEM ACN91 flash
-Red taillight overlay
-35% front tint, 20% tint rears
-V1 hardwire install + blendmount
-Rally Armor mudflaps
-de-badged rear (except for WRX)

I'm approaching 3k miles really soon so am looking for a good Subaru dealership to get my oil change done. I've heard to stay away from Steven's Creek Subaru but heard good things about Capitol Subaru? Any tips on the norcal service dealerships would be most appreciated.

On to the pics!

Taken from Cystal Cove Beach (in socal):

Older shots from when I first got her (pre-debadging):

Yelp reviews indicate steven's creek subaru isn't so hot. See Yelp review here.

Great choice on the hatch! I think the sedan is a bit too boy racer for my taste. Hatchback has more utility imo. Just my two cents. Still love the sedan look.. just wanted a car to grow older with.

^^ thank you!

Update, I am bringing in my car to Capitol Subaru this Friday to get my first oil change. In addition, I have also ordered the SPT cat-back exhaust through them and will (hopefully) have it installed same day!!!!

One thing I am wondering is, the service guy on the phone told me they use Mobil 1 for their synthetic oil changes.. Is Mobil 1 legit? I thought turbo cars are supposed to use Subaru brand Synthetic?

Mobil 1 is just fine, nothing wrong with it at all. They make great motor oil.

Many subaru owners with turbo applications like to use Shell Rotella oil as well, just fyi.

Oh and the SPT exhaust is going to be amazing

Nice looking hatch, seems like the 2011wrx's have the sti front bumper? Whats the problem with Stevens Creek Subaru I got mine there and the service and price was great.

Ok, glad to hear nothing is fishy with Mobil 1 in our cars. When I was over at socalsubies.com, couple guys mentioned Mobil 1 breaks down faster than other oils for our cars. He mentioned using Castrol full synthetic with no qualms. I'll just take the dealer's Mobil 1 and run with it. We switch our oils at 3750 intervals anyway haha. Comes up faster than expected..

Thanks for the compliments man. Yeah the 2011's got the sti's wide-body style. Our fenders are flared out too. I forgot the specs, but I know the tires/wheels were widened out some too. I'm excited to see what the 2012 wrx/sti's are gonna look like...

I got nothing personal against Steven's Creek Subaru, but just based on the horrid yelp reviews, I wouldn't dare bring my car there for service.

If you're changing your oil every 3.75k miles then yeah you'll be fine with Mobil 1. I know Paul @ DBTuned always gave me Motul or Mobil 1, and they're both great.
