Default Persistence Pays Off! 2000 2.5 RS

Well, to start off, my name is Paul. My 1st car was a '94 Impreza FWD (wish I still had it to swap!). Then came a '94 Legacy Outdoor Wagon, my 1st AWD car, I couldn't believe how much different it felt on my parents mile and a half long gravel road, than the FWD Impreza! So I decided it was time to get something a little sportier. I started looking for a 99-00 RS. Months went by with no real prospects until a buddy of mine said his mom was looking to trade in her 2000 RS. I immediately started the almost 8 month process of getting the car I love to drive today. I hung out at my buddies house, bugged her then, called her and pretty much begged her to sell me her car instead of trading it in to Subaru. After a long awaited process of her finding her new car, I laid down $7000 cash in front her (Subaru said the would give her $8500 at the time), and she finally took the offer. Needless to say, i was very excited. It was my 1st manual, so I learned real quick how to shift those gears.

The car when I first got it...

Within a month or so I got the never ending Mod Bug. I started with some KYB AGX's and Eibach Pro Kit springs.

I started the exhaust with a custom 2.5" cat back and a 40 Series Magnaflow. Gave it a deeper rumble, but I wanted the "real" Subi growl. Then came some Borla replica UEL headers. I absolutely love the way she purrs now.

The UEL headers gave me the wonderful P0420 code within a couple months so I picked up a ScanGauge II to help me out with that.

Once I got her to sound how I wanted, I worked on the handling a bit more. I had no idea the fun I was in for...
The lowering and shocks were a good upgrade, but I needed to put it all together so I put:

Whiteline 19-21mm rear sway bar with endlinks
Whiteline endlinks on the stock front 19mm sway bar
Whiteline front and rear strut bars
Rear sub frame bushings (No more 1st - 2nd clunk!)

Paranoid Fab fender braces (great mod!)

After these were put on, it became much more fun to drive and I noticed myself going for much more "spirited" drives, LOL!

By this time I started saving up to do an STi or WRX swap, but life happened and the money was used for another reason. So wanting a bit more power I got an SRS-19 reflash from I-Speed.

Other small mods done:

RalliTek short shifter
Rear Diff Bushings
K&N filter
De-badged the rear
02-03 WRX front and rear seats
Clear corner lights
Clear side markers
GC6SUBI license plate
Hella Supertones

I have a v6 replica wing, rear spats, front and rear aero guards and a front lip just sitting, ready to be painted and put on, along with color matching the side skirts. I also have a torque box i need to finish modding into a 3" intake to get the most out of my re-flash.

Things I want to do:

Paint wheels gold
Finish painting and putting on all accessories
JDM front and rear bumper
Aluminum hood
roll fenders and put some 225's on
Sometime in the FAR future, maybe a swap

Thank you very much. I have a wedding coming up soon (Sept. 18th) and I'm in the market for a house at the moment, so we'll see what spare time and money i can put towards her sometime this spring/summer.

Thanks bro. I remember you I think. You said you wanted to bring your Forester out the 1st day we met right?

Haha, that is the most snow Cameron Park has seen in YEARS!! 10+ I would say. Needless to say, I got rid of what snow was necessary to drive and went to the nearest parking lots I could find Saw 2-3 other Subies playing that morning too.

Hey, awesome looking car. I like that snow pix Some days I wish it snowed here where I live, but we're in the valley where it rains a lot (minus the salt). I wanted to ask you when you got the P0420 code, did the ScanGuageII permanently remove the code to alleviate the CEL, or does it still come on?
